A dusty old stove can soon be a magnificent centrepiece in your home and it only requires a bit of maintenance work.

You have to be prepared to get your hands dirty though because you need to first clean the chimney, and perhaps move the stove outside for a proper scrub down. Ashes should be cleaned out while any rust should be brushed off or perhaps even sandblasted.

You then need to clean all the surfaces thoroughly before you apply high temperature paint and sealers. Once painted in the colour of your choice, leave the stove to dry, you can then make sure the bolts are all tightened or replaced if they’ve become too damaged over time.
