You will have probably seen many ‘fake’ (wooden effect) beams in fireplace stores throughout the UK, but what’s the point in paying out a fair amount of money for a fake piece of wood when you can quite easily buy the real deal? Well, the main reason is that certain stoves do not allow you to position wooden beams to close, and by having a fake beam you don’t have to compromise on the potion. You can have this just a few inches away from the stove rather than a foot. So that’s why fireplace manufacturers decided to start 3D printing their own wooden beams, whilst others have used moulds from real beams! You still get the character, splits and knots, whilst you don’t have to worry about it setting alight! Another advantage is that they do look like a real beam and your guests certainly wouldn’t question it.
